New DLC and 50% off for 3 days!
by pimpmobile on Sep.30, 2009, under Left 4 Dead
Hello! It’s been a while!
Valve just released a new DLC for Left 4 Dead, called Crash Course. This is a new campaign for co-op, single-player, and multiplayer (versus). It is the “missing link” in the story, from when you took the helicopter from the roof of No Mercy hospital, to the beginning of Death Toll.
A new, long campaign you say? That is where you are wrong. This is the perfect map for anyone wanting a quick coop/VS match. The campaign contains two different maps/parts. They do not last for long, and are littered with weapons, gas cans, propane tanks, etc. It seems like the amount of guns you normally find in 5 parts, you now find in 2 parts. So you can imagine, it’s pretty often.
In part one, you have to shoot with an anti tank-gun to get to the safe room. This, of course, alerts all the Infected that you’re in the area, and they come rushing in two waves. The usual deal you find in many of the parts in Left 4 Dead. Great fun, with an MG and all!
In part two, at the end, you have to hold in the use key, in order to do the objective, which is to start the generator. I have, currently, only played it once, but right before the second tank, you have to power it up again. Atleast that’s what we had to do. :p
All in all, it’s a fun campaign, which doesn’t last very long. Too bad the achievements you unlock currently gets locked again when you restart Left 4 Dead. It doesn’t save.
Also, Left 4 Dead is 50% off! If you don’t have this game, it is recommended that you get it. Click here to buy!
Left 4 Dead DLC
by pimpmobile on Feb.12, 2009, under Left 4 Dead, Updates
The Left 4 Dead Downloadable Content (L4D DLC) will be released this spring, to Xbox 360 and PC gamers free of charge!
The L4D DLC is dubbed L4D Survival Pack, because of the new game mode it is introducing. It also introduced two new campaigns for Versus mode, Death Toll and Dead Air. Those two maps have been playable in coop since the game came out, and should be well known for most of the players.
A Critic’s Choice Edition will hit the retail stores this spring, which includes all the stuff in the L4D: Survival Pack.
While you wait for the L4D: Survival Pack, enjoy this little video:
The Special Infected!
by pimpmobile on Feb.08, 2009, under Left 4 Dead
The Hunter:
The Hunter is a normal sized Special Infected. He is really quick when he’s running around and he’s got the strongest melee when compared to the smoker and the boomer, but his true meaning is brought foward when he’s sitting/crawling on all four! The Hunter’s special attack is pouncing, which can only be done when crawling/sitting on all four. If you are playing as the Hunter and wonder if you’re in the right position, listen for the well-known shrieks of the Hunter. To get to the correct position, the default button to do so is ctrl. If you know you’ll pounce someone, and there’s a fire close by, light yourself on fire. A burning Hunter do more damage. Or atleast did more damage.
The Smoker:
The Smoker is a tall Special Infected. When he’s walking around, he sounds like he’s been a chain-smoker for years. He’s caughing a lot, and he’s got green smoke oozing from him. His attack is a long tongue, which he uses to drag survivors away from the others, and kill them. The best position for a smoker is trailing a short distance behind the survivors. It’s easier to drag away the survivor at the back. It will probably take some time before the other survivors notice it. To use the tongue-attack, just click mouse1 (by default). The smoker also has a melee attack, which you can use if someone saved a trapped survivor.
The Boomer:
The Boomer is a big Special Infected. He’s burping a lot when walking around. Even when standing still! His health is really low, but sometimes that’s a really good thing
His attack is to puke all over the survivors, which makes all the normal infected in the area to rush over, causing mayhem! The survivor that’s been puked on cannot see very well for the first few seconds. So the general idea is to hit all the (remaining) survivors with it, so you can get a lot of points, and other Special Infected on your team can attack them without being noticed. Normally, a hunter that’s pounced someone is glowing red, even through walls. When someone’s puked on, it’s not glowing at all, and the music is most likely blocking away the screams for help
As I said, the Boomer having low health can be a good thing, because when the boomer is shot, and someone’s close, they get covered in the same stuff as when the Boomer is puking, and the normal infected come rushing! The best place for a Boomer is right in front of the survivors, around a corner, ready to puke.
The Tank:
The Tank is the biggest character you can play. The Tank appears on random places, maximum one time each map. The person to play the Tank is randomly chosen out of those on the Infected team. The attack of the Tank is either to hit the survivors, by using mouse1 (default), or throw big lumps of concrete on them, by using mouse2 (default). Don’t worry, he will always find a piece of concrete, even if you’re standing in the grass.
The biggest threat for a Tank is the propane tank on level 4, No Mercy (after the elevator). If you see them waiting at the “special place”, start walking through, but quickly click mouse2 to throw a rock. Hopefully they’ll shoot the propane tank then, and you’ll stand still like a rock, and not fall outside. The other big threat for a Tank, on every map, is fire. That be gascans, “firebottles”, the gas station that’s blown up, or anything else. The Tank will die within a set time of seconds, no matter how little the survivors shoot at it.
The Witch:
The Witch cannot be controlled by a real person. You notice her by the distinctive crying. She sounds like a sad girl. She’s really white, and often easy to notice. But that doesn’t mean you’ll never walk right on top of her without noticing. If you’re really close, she’ll change noise to something that sounds like growling. She will also stand up. When she’s close to attacking you, she’ll start screaming, and stand tall. Spook her then, and you should start running. If she gets a hold of you, you’re instantly incapacitated, but not dead. If your teammates come and shoot the Witch, you’ll have a chance.
The best way to deal with a Witch is to ignore it (run past it). But if you want to kill it, the best weapon is the autoshotgun, sneaking up on her from behind, wait until she stands a little bit up, then shoot her in the head. If it doesn’t work, run backwards and shoot! This Special Infected cannot be controlled by anyone.
